Protect your
piano from
the inside out.
South Carolina's humidity swings are one of the greatest threats to your piano's longevity and tuning stability. As a Certified Piano Life Saver Installer, we provide the most effective solution available.
What is Piano Life Saver?
The climate control
system built for pianos.
The Piano Life Saver System by Dampp-Chaser is an internal climate control system installed directly inside your piano. It works automatically to maintain a consistent relative humidity level of 42% — the ideal environment for acoustic pianos — regardless of what's happening outside.
The system consists of three components working together: a humidistat that senses moisture levels, a dehumidifier bar that removes excess moisture in summer, and a humidifier that adds moisture in winter. Together they keep your piano's environment stable year-round.
"The single best investment any South Carolina piano owner can make — before the damage is done."
— Davis Moore, CPT · Certified Piano Life Saver InstallerWhy South Carolina piano owners need this
Your climate is working
against your piano every day.
Greenwood and the Upstate experience dramatic humidity swings across seasons — humid summers that swell wood and strings sharp, and dry winters that shrink them flat. This constant cycle causes progressive damage over time that most piano owners never see coming until it's expensive to fix.
Soundboards crack. Bridges loosen. Glue joints fail. Tuning becomes unstable between visits. Keys stick. The Piano Life Saver System stops all of this at the source.
Schedule a consultationHow the system works
Three components.
One protected piano.
The Piano Life Saver System operates automatically — no adjustments needed from you. Once installed it works silently inside your piano around the clock.
The Humidistat
The brain of the system. Continuously senses the relative humidity inside your piano and signals the humidifier or dehumidifier to activate as needed. Keeps everything in balance without any manual input.
The Dehumidifier Bar
Active in humid months — primarily SC summers. A low-heat bar gently warms the air inside the piano, reducing relative humidity and preventing the swelling, sticking, and sharp tuning that comes with excess moisture.
The Humidifier
Active in dry months — particularly winter heating season. Releases controlled moisture into the piano's environment to prevent the shrinkage, cracking, and flat tuning caused by dry air. Requires periodic water refills using the Piano Life Saver watering can.
